If you prefer your holidays to be rustic, then we’ve got one retreat you’re sure to love…
The Rockhouse Retreat is a modern home with a very unusual edge – it has been carved into a cave.
Created by hand-sculpting an 800-year-old Triassic sandstone escarpment on the banks of Honey Brook, near Bewdley and the Wyre Forest, the project required a lot of man power. Over 70 tonnes of rock was excavated to complete the home’s construction.

Located in acres of beautifully secluded Worcestershire countryside and private woodland, it makes the ideal escape for those looking to leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The property is so unique it has even featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs presented by Kevin McCloud and Channel 5’s The Saturday Show.

Speaking to Countryliving.com/uk, the owners described why the cave house is the perfect retreat for lovers of the rural life: “The Rockhouse Retreat, set in three acres of unspoilt nature, is flanked by fields and has a pretty brook babbling through, wild flowers, herbs and ancient trees.
“Cosy up in the cave to the sound of the owl hooting, warmed by the wood burning stove, feeling far away from it all.”
