Doctors initially believed the fetus had perished in utero, but later detected a heartbeat. The British mother considers her son’s delivery to be a Christmas miracle.
Hannah Cole, a 27-year-old resident of Wibsey, West Yorkshire, was rushed to the hospital in her 20th week of pregnancy because her amniotic sac had ruptured. The following day, physicians at Bradford Royal Infirmary informed her that the fetus had perished in utero due to the absence of a pulse.
However, Cole believed her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 was still alive and requested a second test from medical personnel. On this occasion, the fetal pulse was detected.
Oakley Cole-Fowler was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on October 30, 2022, at 24 weeks gestation. He was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 weighing only 780 grams and was immediately confronted with numerous challenges.
Cole protested the inaccuracy to the Bradford Royal Infirmary staff, and the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust launched an investigation into the matter. The hospital issued an apology to the family for the distress and wrath caused by the error.
“I merely felt relieved. It resembled a rollercoaster ride. He is my Christmas miracle, declared the mother. In addition, he stated that Oakley would be required to stay in the hospital until at least February 9 – his original due date.
Oakley needed extensive surgery at barely 8 days old after being diagnosed with necrotizing enterocolitis, which is characterized by inflammation and the destruction of intestinal tissue. In addition, he received a stoma bag and will need more procedures in the spring.
“We hope to be able to bring him home within the next two months. “He is breathing on his own, he is no longer on a ventilator,” the mother added, describing her 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 as a true warrior. Since his 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡, he has been utterly remarkable. That is progressing really rapidly. He is now perfectly healthy.”
In addition, the mother stated that she is somewhat perplexed because her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 is not yet at home with her and that this is a difficult time for the entire family. Cole stated, “I cannot wait to bring her home and have a regular family.”
