Lionel Messi involved in frightening incident after his car jumps red light in Miami

Soon-to-be Inter Miami player Lionel Messi is still getting used to life in the United States and was involved in a somewhat frightening traffic incident

Fort Lauderdale police were helpless as a car carrying Lionel Messi hurled towards an intersection, and the new Inter Miami signing was lucky to avoid a serious crash

New Inter Miami signing Lionel Messi was involved in a frightening incident in a car that ran a red light in his new home town, heading straight into moving traffic.

Messi was being escorted by Fort Lauderdale police on Friday, but his car went straight into an intersection. The car was extremely lucky not to be involved in a horror crash, as other drivers were thankfully alert during the incident.

The vehicle then turned left as intended and police continued to follow, and other drivers then continued on with their journey. It is not known if Messi was driving, but the 36-year-old was known to be in the car and the incident was caught on camera by Argentinian TV channel TyC Sports.

It was almost a disastrous start to Messi’s career in Miami, with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner still not technically signed. Miami is scheduled to unveil Messi on Sunday, with the player reportedly set to make his debut on July 21 against Cruz Azul in The Leagues Cup.

Messi has been getting more accustomed to the Miami area since landing in the United States, and it’s likely he and his entourage will pay more attention to the traffic lights in the future. On Thursday, he was seen with his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren at a Publix grocery store in South Beach with a variety of goods in the cart.

Lucky Charms cereal were spotted as Messi began joking with his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren in the store, with his son already wearing a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt. Messi had a sandwich named after him at the world-famous restaurant – the intriguingly-named “Made For You by Leo Messi” meal.

Messi was in great spirits throughout the store visit, and other than the odd photo he wasn’t bothered by any fans. It must have been a strange experience for Messi, as he walked the aisle of the shop and even strolled to the car park without any fuss being made.

The Argentine is familiar with Miami, visiting on holiday with his family for some time. But now it’s his home after leaving Paris Saint Germain at the end of last season, when his contract expired.

Messi joined PSG after Barcelona ‘s dire financial situation forced the legend out of the club. Messi was in tears as he said goodbye to Barcelona, and headed to PSG to form a star front-three alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The past two years have been extremely successful for Messi, as he continued to win the league title with PSG and then he finally won the World Cup with Argentina. He’s set for a calmer life in MLS, although he will be the main star across the entire league, so his time being unnoticed won’t last for long.
