This glacial volcano set flights throughout Europe on hold when it erupted in 2010. The hike to Thorsmork takes you right by it, but it’s only a hike for the physically fit.

The hot tub on the outdoor patio is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day, and look up at the stars on clear nights. The cabin building also provides a good place to stay for a day trip to the Westman Islands with a quick drive to the ferry.
