Damian Lillard’s Dream Scenario For Trail Blazers Is To Add Draymond Green And Re-Sign Jerami Grant

Point guard Damian Lillard is a top superstar in the NBA, and he’s currently the face of the Portland Trail Blazers. Throughout his career, Lillard has been renowned for his loyalty to his franchise, and his scoring ability.

This offseason, the Portland Trail Blazers have prioritized adding Scoot Henderson to their core with the No. 3 pick, rather than moving it in a win-now deal. However, it is clear that Lillard still wants the team to get him some immediate help, with his dream scenario being the addition of Draymond Green and the retention of Jerami Grant, per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

“So, what would it take to convince Lillard that Portland is still the place to be for the rest of his NBA days? Here’s one solution that is known to be a dream scenario from Lillard’s vantage point: Re-sign forward Jerami Grant and add four-time All-Star/four-time champion Draymond Green in free agency.”

There’s no doubt that these two moves could end up helping the Portland Trail Blazers be a better team. However, there is some valid debate about whether it is worth it to build around Damian Lillard or just trade him and start a rebuild.

This past regular season, Damian Lillard averaged 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers. He is clearly still an elite player, and it’ll be interesting to see whether the team ends up making moves to help him in the future.

Damian Lillard Has Legitimate Interest In Joining The Miami Heat

There is no doubt that there are teams where Damian Lillard would love to go if he were traded by the Portland Trail Blazers. It seems as though one of those teams is the Miami Heat.

“Lillard indeed has serious interest in joining the Heat, who would surely love to pair him with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. If it reaches this point — and there’s still an ‘if’ here considering all the times Lillard chose not to ask out before — Lillard’s wishes would matter a great deal because of the enormity of his contract.”

We’ll see whether the Miami Heat ends up being able to muster up the assets to trade for Damian Lillard. He is definitely worth a lot due to his ability and long-term contract, but perhaps this deal will happen in the future.
