Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll relationship update as golf star leaves the UK after Masters triumph

Rory McIlroy has been reunited with wife Erica Stoll, having recently flown to Northern Ireland without his other half following his sensational triumph at the Masters.

The 35-year-old was able to secure the first green jacket of his career earlier this month after beating Justin Rose in a tight play-off at Augusta.

It was an emotional moment for McIlroy, who has now achieved the career Grand Slam – joining just five other men in that elite club.

After winning, McIlroy said he was keen to celebrate his victory with his parents – who weren’t present in America as he made history.

The golfer was spotted landing in Northern Ireland on Friday, accompanied by four-year-old daughter Poppy.

There was no sign of wife Erica, however, with the 37-year-old seemingly choosing to stay in America while her husband returned to the UK.

Now, according to the Miami Herald, McIlroy has returned to Florida.

It’s said he touched down on Sunday, having seen his parents Rosie and Gerry in Northern Ireland.

Erica was spotted greeting her husband and Poppy after he touched down in Jupiter.

It came after fans had been left confused by her absence, with some baffled that they didn’t fly out to Northern Ireland together.

McIlroy is set to return to action on the PGA Tour on Thursday for the first time since going all the way at the Masters, with the Briton poised to play in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

He will team up with close friend Shane Lowry as the duo look to defend the title they won in 2024.

Lowry confirmed this recently, with the 38-year-old saying: “To be honest, I didn’t want him to feel like he had to play because of me.

“He’s not letting me down if he wanted to take some time. He feels like he wants to get back out there.

“He feels like next week is a good week to do it. So, yeah, we’ll be there.”

Meanwhile, after his win at Augusta, McIlroy got emotional when talking about his parents.

“I would say it was 14 years in the making,” he said.

“Going out with the four-shot lead in 2011, feeling like I could have got it done there. Yeah, there was a lot of pent up emotion that just came out on that 18th green.

“A moment like that makes all the years and all the close calls worth it.

“I want to say hello to my mum and dad. They’re back home in Northern Ireland…”

After breaking down, he added: “They (made a lot of sacrifices), and I can’t wait to see them next week.

“I just can’t wait to celebrate this with them.”
