Tiger Woods sends golf world into meltdown with shock tweet claiming he will play at the Masters… three weeks after surgery

Tiger Woods has announced he is set to play at the Masters next week in a stunning post on social media – but fans quickly realized all is not as it seems.

The golf legend, who underwent surgery just three weeks ago, wrote on X: ‘I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.’

Woods, 49, recently saw his hopes of a return to the course come crashing down when he ruptured his Achilles tendon while at home in Florida.

The 15-time major winner was preparing for his latest comeback when he felt a ‘sharp pain’ in his left heel, before he went under the knife on March 11.

And as a result, fans were quick to point out that his shock Masters claim, of course, was posted on April Fool’s Day.

‘I know the date you can’t fool me,’ one fan replied.

Another commented: ‘Hard April Fools here bud. Can’t do this to our souls.’

A third put: ‘Tiger’s got April fools jokes’.

While one admitted: ‘i hate that i believed this for a second’.

Tiger then came clean five minutes later after clarifying that he will not be returning to the course in Augusta next week while recovering from his op.

‘P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :),’ he posted.

Woods has won the Masters on five separate occasions, with his last triumph in 2019 going down as one of the most iconic sporting comebacks of all time.

At the end of last month, he made a more serious announcement when he confirmed his romance with Donald Trump’s former daughter-in-law Vanessa.

Just over a week after DailyMail.com exclusively broke the news that they were dating, the 15-time major winner hard-launched his new girlfriend and declared ‘love is in the air’ after sharing two photos of them together on Instagram.

Among the first people to offer their congratulations on his new romance, meanwhile, was Ivanka Trump, formerly Vanessa’s sister-in-law.

She commented on the post ‘So happy for you both’ while adding a number of emojis with love hearts.

Tiger and Vanessa, 47, who both live in Florida , have been together since Thanksgiving, DailyMail.com confirmed with four sources.

They live 20 minutes apart in the wealthy southern Florida enclave of Palm Beach and were spotted together at a golf tournament last month.

Woods, who has not been in a high-profile relationship for the last two years, has struck up the romance amid doubts over his future in the sport following a string of injuries.
