The city with the most billionaires in the world revealed

Data from Wealth-X shows that 29% of the world’s 3,194 richest people with a combined net worth of $11.1 trillion live in a few major cities. In particular, New York (USA) is home to the most billionaires with 136 people.

The top 10 cities with the most billionaires include Mumbai (India) with 39 billionaires, Shenzhen (China) 42, Singapore 54, Los Angeles (USA) 58, Beijing (China) 61, London (UK) ) 75, Moscow (Russia) 76, San Francisco (USA) 84, Hong Kong (China) 112, New York (USA) 136.

From 2021 to 2022, most of the top cities increase or decrease by 1-2 billionaires, except Singapore. The island nation of lions has added 4 billionaires during this time period.

Total wealth of Singaporean billionaires also increased 2.1% to 101 billion USD.

New York City, USA is still home to the most billionaires with 136 people

Citing the report on the world’s super-rich by New York-based Altrata, the number of billionaires globally has decreased by 3.5% in 2022, to 3,194 people. This is the first decrease since 2018. In which, China dropped the most.

China’s billionaires fell 11% to 357 billionaires. The combined net worth of these billionaires also fell 9.3% to $1.3 trillion.

The United States, which leads the world in the number of billionaires, recorded a 2.1% decline, to 955 billion. The wealth of this group of people also fell 5.2 percent to $4.2 trillion.

The cumulative wealth of the super-rich fell 5.5 percent to $11.1 trillion, according to the report, amid rising global inflation and uncertainty. Billionaires in everything from consumer services to energy to healthcare to hotels have seen their net worth fall by at least 5% in the last year.

Maya Imberg, director of wealth research firm Wealth-X, said: “Although the number of billionaires in Russia will increase by five people to a total of 112 in 2022, their total wealth has increased only by nearly first%.
