Elon Musk‘s mom, Maye Musk, is under fire after she defended her stance on having 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren even if you can’t afford it.
During a December 15 appearance on Fox and Friends with interviewer Rachel Campos-Duffy, the 76-year-old shared that there are ways to have 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren without spending tons of money.
In the past, her son, Elon, who has fathered 12 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, has been quite outspoken about the declining 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 rates in the United States, remarking that dwindling fertility rates are a bigger threat to humans than climate change.
During the interview, Campos-Duffy brought up this fact, asking Maye about her recent response to a comedian who had argued that it was too expensive to have kids.
Earlier last month, Maye had responded to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the topic – which her son also chimed in on – writing that kids are the ‘greatest gift in your life.’
‘Having 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren is the greatest gift in your life,’ Maye wrote on X. ‘When Elon was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, we were in a small two bedroom apartment overlooking a garage.’
‘When Kimbal was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, we moved to a two bedroom apartment with a view. When Tosca was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, we moved to a two bedroom house. All in the same area. We didn’t go out for dinner nor to the movies. As my former-husband was promoted at the engineering firm, we upgraded our lifestyle,’ her message continued.
‘He then opened his own engineering firm, and we could move to a beautiful home in a better area. Children give you your greatest joy in the world. I never felt like I was sacrificing anything. As soon as I could afford some help in the house, I opened my dietetics practice in my home. My career was on hold for a short while, but so worth it. Have 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, add value to your life.’

On Fox and Friends yesterday, Maye reiterated her points.
‘You know, when I had my 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, we were in a two-bedroom, small apartment overlooking a garage,’ Maye explained on Fox and Friends.
‘And then, the next year, I had a second 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, we had an apartment with a view, and then by the third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, we could get a two-bedroom house, and you just, you know, as you move on, you start doing better and better,’ she continued.
‘You don’t have to go to the movies, you don’t have to go out for dinner, just spend time with the most wonderful gifts you can ever have, is the 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren,’ Maye concluded.
However, many users on X did not seem to appreciate her sentiment, as they wrote out some seriously heated responses to the former supermodel.
‘Have kids, but don’t do anything with them. Awesome advice,’ one person scathed.
Someone else wrote, ‘”When I had my first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 we were living in a two bedroom apartment over a garage.” She’s so oblivious she doesn’t realize how much a f**king two bedroom apartment costs now.’
‘It’s always fascinating how blatantly rich people say that they don’t see other people as human, like how can anyone say something like this and not be immediately hated on by everyone,’ another typed.

A second chimed in, ‘It’s always amusing to watch the ultra wealthy run their mouth when they have no clue what they’re talking about.’
‘I’m f***ing tired of rich w***ers talking about whether or not working class people should have kids. You guys want your cake and eat it too. You want the next generation of working class people to exploit for wealth but don’t want to pay any tax to contribute despite benefiting,’ one X user admitted.
Others called Maye the ‘utter epitome of privilege’ and ‘detached from reality.’
In recent months, Maye’s son, Elon, has been spending a lot of time with President-elect Donald Trump, even joining him on the golf course at Mar-a-Lago with the New Yorker’s grand𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.
Maye shed light on her son’s relationship with Trump during a recent appearance on Fox Business, laughing that they get along ‘so well.’
She even shared more about Trump’s youngest son, Barron, who is a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
‘The funny thing is at the Thanksgiving dinner, Barron and Elon were talking planets. He’s 18-years-old. They were discussing all the different planets and why mars is the best place to start a new civilization,’ Musk shared about her son and Trump’s youngest son.
She said she was also very impressed with the youngest Trump.
‘Trump just likes someone he can completely trust who doesn’t have any alternative motives,’ she claimed of their relationship.
