Literacy brilliance

The American đ›đšđ«đ§ đ˜€đ˜©đ˜Șđ˜đ˜„ author with Ghanaian roots wrote his first book at the age of seven. The book – “Kayla and Kyle The Walking Dictionaries: Election Day” was catalogued in the US Library of Congress. He then published his second, “Kayla and Kyle The Walking Dictionaries: A Puppy Surprise.” Nicholas’s Christmas book released on October 1, 2021 has already been listed as a number one bestseller on Amazon, just like his previous ones. “Is Santa Really Real?” has also been accepted into the Library of Congress.

Speaking about how he became an author, the literacy genius recounted that he used ‘big’ words in school which impressed his teacher; who then emailed his mum about it. Nicholas’s mum, Danielle thought it would be a good idea to write a book, and the rest is history. His goal is to get his book into every elementary school library in the US to help in the improvement of vocabulary.

Family

Nicholas was đ›đšđ«đ§ to Danielle and Dominic Buamah ten years ago in Atlanta, Georgia. His father is of Ghanaian descent, and mother an African- American from South Indiana.

Talking about how he got into entrepreneurship, Nicolas says that his parents have their own businesses, and that inspired him to have his publishing company too – Mother Hubbard Inc. His mum helps him with the business structure, and his dad who is into accounting takes care of the financial aspect. With loving parents who teach and support him, Nicholas believes that he can do anything he puts his mind to. “I know I can always count on them “, he says.

Thoughts on diaspora

Nicholas has researched and learned a lot about the word ‘diaspora’ and so he has a full understanding on what it means. This is what he has to say when we asked him about his affiliation to the diaspora:

“I have a direct connection with the Ghana diaspora having an African-American mother and a father from Ghana. I think it’s very important for me to connect to my Ghanaian roots now instead of waiting until I’m older, this way I can learn the language, be engrossed in the culture and appreciate my ancestor’s history, which is my history.”
