Anne was deep in conversation with a friend on the way to the studio.

The actress tucked her raven tresses under a baker boy hat, toting her essentials in a quilted black leather handbag by Chanel.

The screen star complemented her look with a pair of dark cat-eye sunglasses and small hoop earrings.

The screen star also sported a pair of knee-high lace up boots for the day out in Manhattan.

It comes after Anne, who is married to Adam Shulman, recently revealed she has been ‘choosier’ about her acting roles since having 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.

The husband and wife have been married for a decade and share sons Jonathan, six, and Jack, three.

While discussing her role in the drama Armageddon Time, which arrived in theatres on November 4, Anne opened up about her change in perspective.

In an interview with Sirius XM’s Jess Cagle in October, she said:  ‘I have to say, the ‘kids’ thing has been the biggest shift.

‘That’s kind of re-prioritized everything, so it’s actually made me a bit choosier because something really has to be so excellent to spend time away from them because they’re so precious to me.

‘They’re the most sacred part of my life by a long shot. And then when I do accept something, it puts greater pressure on me to make it worth the time that I’ve spent away from them.’

Anne added: ‘I’ve always felt a big responsibility – with mixed results – to the audience that was going to see the project that I was gonna work on because I take it very, very seriously.

‘People work so hard for their money and the idea that I’m asking you for your time and your money to like do this thing that I love to do, it has to be worth it, it really does.

Relaxed: The screen star also sported a pair of knee-high lace up boots for the day out in Manhattan while chatting to a pal

Thoughtful: The actress looked pensive as she made her way to the photo studio in New York

She added another element of her becoming more ‘choosy’ is, ‘I want to be the best actor that I can. I never want to stop learning.

‘So that means I want to work on as many different types of movies and play as many different types of roles as I can.’

‘For me, the most crucial part of that approach is I have to work with the best directors who will have me. I have to do that.

‘It’s the only way I’m going to learn because it can’t just be about my experience of the part, it has to be about someone who – just by working with them – they’re gonna make me a better artist.’

Laughs: She flashed a smile, toting her essentials and preparing for a day of work

She added that Armageddon Time director James Gray, ‘checked all those boxes’ for her, adding she was excited there was an, ‘age-appropriate role in a James Gray film.’

The actress was also asked which of her own movies she’s most excited to show her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren when they get older.

‘I am really excited to show them The Devil Wears Prada. It’s such a good movie,’ she said.

‘And I say that, you know, with complete humility, I’m a small part in that film,’ she continued.

‘It’s David Frankel, our director. It’s Meryl Streep. I mean, you know, Stanley [Tucci], Emily [Blunt], everyone – Patricia Field.’
