Khloé Kardashian Claimed That She Doesn’t Think It’s Right To “Publicize” Helping Those Less Fortunate For A “Pat On The Back,” And People Came With Receipts As They Accused Her Of Hypocrisy

“When people fall on hard times- I don’t feel it’s right to publicize that for my own personal pat on the back,” Khloé wrote — but people quickly reminded her of Shorty, Lamar, and Tristan’s brother Amari.

Khloé Kardashian is being accused of double standards after she made a shady comment about Tokyo Toni on her Instagram post.

For reference, Tokyo is Angela White — aka Blac Chyna’s — mom, and grandmother to Khloé’s niece, Dream Kardashian, who Angela shares with Rob Kardashian.

The whole saga started when Tokyo revealed that she was spending Thanksgiving cooking for people experiencing homelessness.

Meanwhile, over on her page, Khloé shared a selection of photos from her own lavish Thanksgiving with her family. She captioned the post: “❥ Thankful ❥”

And some couldn’t help but draw comparisons between the two days, with one of Khloé’s followers commenting: “Y’all over here enjoying while dreams grandma is feeding the homeless 😢” — and Khloé did not hold back in her response.

She started by quoting the Bible, @-ing the user in her post’s comments and writing: “Watch out! ‘Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven’ Matthew 6:1-4.”

She added: “Just because we don’t post about it, doesn’t mean we aren’t doing it my love. Sending you love and blessings.”

But Khloé then followed up with a longer reply, which was widely interpreted to be subtle shade at Tokyo’s Instagram post.

“I am not knocking what anyone else chooses to show or keep to themselves,” Khloé began. “But personally, when people fall on hard times- I don’t feel it’s right to publicize that for my own personal pat on the back.”

“Highlighting a charity or an organization that may need some awareness is one thing, but I don’t feel comfortable highlighting people when they’re at a low point in their lives. To each their own, I’m only speaking for myself,” she concluded.

However, the comment arguably didn’t land as anticipated, with people quick to point out that Khloé’s words don’t exactly match up to her public profile.

As I’m sure you know, Khloé shot to fame by starring in her family’s various reality shows over the years — and many storylines in these shows strongly contradict the stance that she took in her reply.

In fact, an entire episode of Season 1 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians revolved around Khloé befriending and helping a man named Shorty, who was experiencing homelessness.

The 2007 storyline kicked off with Khloé approaching Shorty and asking him to move from outside of her and her sisters’ Los Angeles store. “I am not trying to be rude or anything,” she said. “But a couple of the people are complaining; I think people want you to move to a different area, if that’s OK. Sorry.”

As Shorty moved on, he dropped his sweater, and Khloé ran after him to give it back. In a confessional, she added that her “conscience is kicking in” and that she felt “really bad” for the man.

Calling her mom, Kris Jenner, to ask what to do, Kris remarked that Shorty had fallen on hard times, to which Khloé retorted: “Obviously, that’s why he’s outside rolling in dirt.”

“See if he needs something to eat, Khloé, maybe there’s something you can do for him,” Kris replied. “It’s somebody who’s obviously a lot less fortunate than we are.”

Khloé and her sister Kourtney Kardashian then approached Shorty and took him back to their family home to have a shower. Khloé was shown trimming Shorty’s beard, finding him clothes to wear, and arranging to take him to the dentist.

While this episode was filmed a long time ago, Khloé revisited it in the final season of Keeping Up in 2021, where she was shown tracking Shorty down for a reunion.

Rehashing exactly how she helped him all those years ago, she invited him to her home for lunch with the family. Here, he revealed that he was still struggling with homelessness, and had lost his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Khloé, as well as her sisters, were then shown helping to secure an apartment for Shorty, with Shorty breaking down in tears during a FaceTime call as he thanked Khloé for all that she has done for him.

The following year, in 2022, Khloé was filmed visiting Alexandria House — a nonprofit organization to help support women and 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren experiencing homelessness — for an episode of The Kardashians.

Khloé has also been repeatedly filmed helping those close to her when they have fallen on hard times, including supporting her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, amid his scary hospitalization after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel.

Khloé was filmed as she supported Tristan following his mom, Andrea’s, unexpected death.

In the episode, Khloé’s sister Kim Kardashian told the cameras: “Tristan found out that his mom had had a heart attack. It shook up his entire world.”

“So, of course, we drop everything, and we go to Toronto,” she added. “It’s not even a question.”

Later, Khloé detailed how she stepped in to be a “support system” for Tristan amid his loss, which included cleaning Andrea’s apartment, contacting her cell and credit card suppliers, and figuring out her life insurance policy.

Khloé also explained that she was arranging to bring Tristan’s then-16-year-old brother Amari, who has “the most severe type of epilepsy,” to live with her and Tristan in her home while Tristan’s roof was being repaired.

With all of this in mind, it’s perhaps unsurprising that when the popular Instagram account The Shade Room shared a screenshot of Khloé’s comment with their 29 million followers, she was immediately called out for hypocrisy.

Responding to Khloé’s claim that she doesn’t think it’s right to “publicize” when somebody has fallen “on hard times” for her “own personal pat on the back,” one person wrote: “Girl bye, YALL TOOK IN A HOMELESS MAN ON YALL SHOW, a whole episode showing what yall did for him.”

“Now Now Khloe, do you remember Shorty? The homeless man that you put on TV and took him home for bath and also the dentist ? ‘Shorty, the homeless man we adopted,’” somebody else asked.

Another echoed: “But didn’t they record a whole episode helping a homeless man 🤔 cameras all up and through his face.”

“I mean she felt the need to announce to the world that she’s taking care of Tristan special needs brother so what’s the difference???” one more noted.

Somebody else claimed: “Lamar was on their show damn near on his death bed 😒”

And another asked: “Don’t they constantly showcase themselves helping the less fortunate?! 😂😂😂😂😂”

Khloé has not publicly responded to these comments. What do you make of it all? Let me know below!
