Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, two of the most prominent figures in Bollywood, have captivated audiences not just with their individual talent but also with their beautiful relationship as husband and wife.
From sparking chemistry on the screen to building a life together, their journey exemplifies the power of connection and growth. Their love story is one of pure joy.
They are two of the biggest stars in Bollywood and have appeared together in some of the highest-grossing films in Hindi cinema in recent years.
Interestingly, both appear to have completely contrasting personalities in public life. Thus, while Ranveer has, for the most part of his career, been flashy and flamboyant before the camera, Deepika has maintained an elegant and aristocratic grace.
Ranveer has acknowledged Deepika’s intelligence several times in the past.
“I am really grateful that I have such a sharp mind as a partner. She improves my work by giving me constructive criticism; I use her as my creative bouncing board. Often, we discuss our work, her work, and mine as well,” he once said in an interview.
To their fans, they are the example of the perfect couple who complete each other. And now, they are set to become parents for the first time. With the pregnancy announcement by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh taking the Indian internet by storm on 29 February 2024, here is a look at the fairytale relationship the two built over 12 years.
Complete relationship timeline of Ranveer and Deepika
2012: The first meeting
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone met for the first time at an award show outside of India.
According to Filmfare, Ranveer saw Deepika wearing a silver colour gown to the event. That moment, Ranveer later told the publication, was etched in his memory for life.
In fact, he referred to the moment during the promotions of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela in 2013.
“The first time I saw her, I almost went flat!” specifically mentioning the dress.
He also referred to the moment on social media on 10 December 2015 in response to a fan question on how he could remember it so well.
“How can one possibly forget that sight?! #dropdeadgorgeous,” he wrote on Twitter (now X).

Such was the impact on him that Ranveer recalled it six years later on Famously Filmfare season 2 (2018–2019) in an interview with Jitesh Pillai.
“First of all, I saw her from behind…she’s wearing this silver thing and she is so tall, man I couldn’t believe that anybody could look like that,” he said on the TV show.
2012: Sparks fly on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela

The success of the film boosted Ranveer’s career. The actor said that he bought a ring for Deepika while keeping his sister and mother in the loop. He said that he “didn’t have that degree or maturity” to seek the permission of Deepika’s parents.
