27-year-old man who dropped out to support his sisters education returns to school, earns two degrees and achieves career success

27-year-old man who dropped out to support his sisters education returns to school, earns two degrees and achieves career success.

Nyainda Manasse, a 27-year-old man from Kenya who dropped out of university to support his sister’s education, has finally achieved his dreams, earning two degrees from St. Paul’s University in Nairobi, Kenya.

Manasse shared his journey on Facebook, detailing how he initially began his higher education in 2015 at Kenyatta University, where he enrolled in a Public Policy and Administration program.

He had plans to graduate by December 2019. However, due to financial constraints, his family could not afford to keep both him and his sister in school. Faced with this dilemma, Manasse made the difficult decision to step back so his sister could continue her studies.

With his sister’s education as his priority, Manasse took to the streets to find ways to support himself. After navigating numerous challenges, he eventually found his way back to the classroom at St. Paul’s University, Nairobi Kenya.

In 2021, he graduated with a Diploma in Public Relations, then continued to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication both made possible by a full scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a German organization.

Looking back, Manasse expressed gratitude that his sacrifice was not in vain. He viewed the setback as a “small inconvenience,” noting that it was simply a matter of letting his sister go first in the pursuit of higher education.

Now, he is not only proud of her achievements but also of those of his other siblings, who have made strides in their own academic and professional lives.

Though he graduated four years after his former Kenyatta University classmates, Manasse has made impressive progress in his career. He reflected on how, while others were completing their degrees at 23, he was still uncertain about his future and struggling to afford even basic necessities.

“At the time, all I could afford was a Facebook account, a knack for writing, and the confidence of a fraudster because fortune only favors the bold, and I dare add, the brave,” he shared.

Today, at just 27, Manasse holds the role of Director of Communications for a political party in Kenya, has a degree in Communication, a diploma in Public Relations, and is the co-founder of Native Ideas.

Manasse expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to his journey and supported him along the way, acknowledging that their help made his accomplishments possible.
