Netflix film boss Scott Stuber addresses Extraction 3 and teases Idris Elba’s future in the franchise.
The Netflix film series, which started in 2020, follows Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a black ops mercenary who undergoes dangerous extraction missions. Extraction 2, released in June 2023, introduced Idris Elba as an unnamed character credited as Alcott, who is expected to play a major role in the franchise moving forward, including in Extraction 3, which is already officially in development.
In an interview with Collider, Stuber shared an Extraction 3 update and teased Elba’s future in the franchise. The Netflix film boss says they are continuing to work on the script, but are being careful not to rush the creative process. Furthermore, “Getting Idris [Elba] into the franchise was an interesting way to kind of evolve it,”
