After making a humorous remark about “big bucks,” Jason Kelce breaks a “world record” on ESPN

Jason Kelce was tasked with breaking a world record as part of ESPN’s Monday Night Football coverage as the Philadelphia Eagles icon attempted to set a new mark.

Jason Kelce, the ESPN commentator, received a warm embrace from his colleague Marcus Spears ahead of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans game after setting a world record that left Spears in fits of laughter. As part of ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football’ coverage, Kelce was chosen to participate in the ‘Tailgate Gauntlet,’ a series of challenges against YouTube sensations ‘Dude Perfect.’

The tasks included cornhole, ladder toss, and throwing a football through a tire, among others. One might assume that Kelce, being a former professional footballer, would easily conquer these challenges.

However, the reality was quite different, with the ex-Philadelphia Eagles center struggling to keep pace with ‘Dude Perfect.’ Interestingly, one task where Kelce faltered was throwing the football, either launching it too forcefully or not powerfully enough.

The 37-year-old also couldn’t catch a football while blindfolded, which is as challenging as it sounds in his attempt to set a record. The one challenge where Kelce triumphed involved catching a hot dog sausage in a bun from a significant distance.

Positioned at one end of the AT&T Stadium field, with a member of Dude Perfect at the other end hurling sausages as far and hard as possible, Kelce managed to break the world record for the longest throw and catch of a hot dog into a bun, which stood at 167 feet, reports the Mirror US.

After his first throw missed the mark, Kelce expertly caught a hot dog in a bun on his second go, holding up the now-complete snack triumphantly. Following his record-setting feat, Kelce took a victory lap to the cheers of those watching.

Back with Scott Van Pelt, Ryan Clark, and Spears, it didn’t take long for the crew to comment on the former Eagles star’s achievement. “That’s a world record? ” Van Pelt questioned sarcastically, prompting Kelce to confirm: “Hot dog’s in the bun – I got it.”

Van Pelt then quipped: “When you and I talked back in the Spring, is this what you pictured? This what you pictured? ” As Kelce shook his head and replied: “This is why they pay me the big bucks,” laughter erupted from the group.

The 37-year-old joined in the amusement as Van Pelt went on about Kelce’s unique talent for catching a hot dog wiener with a bun from such a distance. While Kelce chuckled, Spears gave him a congratulatory hug, still laughing at the spectacle.

The lead-up to the Cowboys and Texans game was certainly eventful. Before kickoff, both Kelce and Clark were mocked online for their sartorial choices, particularly Clark’s suit with mismatched textures.

Moreover, a piece of the AT&T Stadium roof came loose when an attempt was made to open it. The metal fragment descended onto the field but fortunately did not injure anyone present.
