LeBron James won’t be the one to make decision over when he retires, says Kobe Bryant’s former teammate

Time always runs out for all players in all of sports, especially among the greats.

For Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, he has shown to have some spark left, but soon enough, that spark will be gone.

James started he is definitely returning next NBA season, but he didn’t indicate if it would be last season. He will be 40-year-old and is running out of time to build more to his legacy in the league.

On Monday, the hosts of FanDuel’s Run It Back Podcast talked about how far James can go as a key player in the NBA. Michelle Beadle and Chandler Parsons believed that the star Laker could push the narrative of time based on his stellar play so far this season.

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Lou Williams talked about the only undefeated person when it comes to the NBA.

“This is the only thing he hasn’t considered, Father Time is undefeated and he’s [LeBron] not making that decision. LeBron is not going to be the person making the decision.

“One day he’s going to wake up and it’s going to feel like somebody stole his Space Jam Basketball and he’s just not going to have that step.”

He continued to talk his experience that he saw in another great Laker in former teammate Kobe Bryant.

“I’ll reference back to that last season I had with Kobe, Kobe started that season wheels turning ready to go, ready to put a playoff run together.

“In the first ten games, his body didn’t give him what he wanted to give. He just didn’t have that step, he didn’t have that pop and his focus became different. His focus became, ‘okay, let me go ahead and announce this retirement and enjoy my retirement and enjoy receiving my flowers from around the league.’”

How long does LeBron have?

Williams himself about the time that he had to cut short because he didn’t have anything left in the tank. With Bryant, it is the same aspect, but in a more emotional setting with a farewell tour.

“Mentally, he was all there, mentally that is the same thing for LeBron. In a year or two, he’s doing to do all of things that are necessary for him to play. He’s going to take all of the steps necessary to make sure he’s healthy and before you know it, it’s going to get faster and faster and he’s going to feel it.”

James hasn’t stated how long he will have left in the league, but there isn’t going to be this season. There is a very good chance that he could make next season his last season. LeBron could have a similar farewell season like Bryant.
