Basketball star Stephen Curry and his decade-long love story that everyone envies

Not only does Stephen Curry have a dream basketball career, he also makes many fans and colleagues jealous of his happy married life with Ayesha Curry. So how did the two come together?

Stephen Curry is one of the NBA’s top stars and the best shooter in the history of the league. The Warriors captain has won countless prestigious titles and has had an admirable career. However, Curry is loved not only for his basketball talent but also for his simple and rustic lifestyle. He and Ayesha Curry are the model for a happy family in the NBA. So how did the two meet?

Curry and Ayesha are one of the most beautiful families in the NBA.

Curry and Ayesha first met in 2002 after he and his family returned to their hometown of Charlotte from Canada after three years of living there when his father, Dell Curry, moved to play for the Toronto Raptors. Curry, then 14, joined the Central Church of God youth group, where he met Ayesha.

Moving to Canada, Curry joined the Central Church of God youth group, where he met Ayesha. The Canadian-American actress had a crush on him before she learned that Curry was a fellow countryman and loved all kinds of candy like her. Although the two rarely talked to each other, Ayesha always knew how to “flirt” with her target.

“I sent him some signals. However, I felt very embarrassed and didn’t dare to say anything. I didn’t dare to give the candy to Curry and just asked someone else to bring it to him, then I quickly left,” Ayesha recalled the first day they met. From then on, the two began to have the first steps for their dating journey later.

Curry and Ayesha have known each other since they were kids.

After graduating from high school, Ayesha decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. As a promising actress at the time, Ayesha was accepted into the Arts York program in Canada and had guest roles in the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana” and “Good Luck Charlie.” Because of their busy schedules, Ayesha and Curry didn’t have much time to text and talk to each other.

As for Curry, he continued to live in Charlotte, and after graduating from high school, Curry attended Davidson College in North Carolina. In 2008, Curry had an explosive performance and helped Davidson advance to the NCAA quarterfinals that year, thanks to which he was nominated for the title of Best Breakout Athlete at the prestigious ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.

And during his visit to L.A, Curry took the initiative to text and invite his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood friend Ayesha to go for a walk. Ayesha agreed to meet, but it was only because of a long-time friendship. Growing up, Ayesha understood more about love, about herself, and set principles in love affairs. Among them, the most important principle was: “Do not date players”.

“At that time, I didn’t even know what ESPY was. I didn’t like athletes because they were so arrogant”, Ayesha once shared.

Curry himself couldn’t help but laugh when he learned this. Leading an unknown team like Davidson to the NCAA quarterfinals made the whole US crazy and made Curry’s name famous. “But she really didn’t know anything. That gave me some pretty new emotions”, Curry shared, both laughing and crying.

Our ancestors have a saying: “What you hate, God will give you” and it is completely true in Ayesha’s case.

As a college student, Curry was not well-off financially, but the 3-time NBA champion still tried to impress his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood friend by emptying his pockets to buy her Oakland sunglasses on their first date.

After the first date, Ayesha gradually changed her prejudice about football players. “He was funny and sometimes a bit silly, completely different from what I imagined,” Ayesha recalled about the first date. After that date, the feelings between the two sides developed better and better. And finally, after a long time of getting to know each other, Ayesha took the initiative to confess her love to the Warriors captain, but only received a shake of the head from him.

“I told him I loved him, but Steph said he had feelings for me too but didn’t want to say anything until he was sure. I drove home that night and cried a lot,” Ayesha recalled of Curry’s rejection.

It was not Curry but Ayesha who confessed first, but the result was not as expected.

However, the two continued their relationship as close friends. With both families having known each other before, Curry and Ayesha also had many opportunities to meet each other. And a few months after the “failed” confession, on a romantic Christmas night, Ayesha received a confession from Curry.

“While everyone was watching a movie, suddenly he leaned close to my ear and whispered: ‘I love you’. My parents were sitting there, his parents were there too. All of our siblings were there. I was shocked but still tried to pretend that I was okay and continued watching the movie. At that time, I understood that Steph was ready”, Ayesha recalled.

And after 8 years of getting to know each other and dating, on July 30, 2011, they both returned to Charlotte, returned to the church where they first met, and held a wedding ceremony with the witness of family and friends from both sides. And when Ayesha walked down the aisle, Curry was truly stunned.

Curry still can’t forget the feeling of confusion when Ayesha appeared radiantly in front of him.

“The wedding planner told me to calm down if there was something too unexpected. However, I couldn’t control my emotions at that moment. This was the best thing about my wedding. Long after that, those images still appear in my head,” Curry recalled.

After nearly a decade together, Curry and Ayesha have always been a model of beautiful love, a perfect family that NBA stars as well as athletes around the world aspire to. The three of them have three lovely 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren together: Jack Curry, Riley Curry, Ryan Curry.

With no All-Star game, Curry will have his first proper Valentine’s Day with Ayesha since 2013.

With an injury and no NBA All-Star game this year, Curry will have his first Valentine’s Day in six years with his family and wife Ayesha. Let’s see how the Warriors captain will celebrate Valentine’s Day this year.
