A Philadelphia-based podcast and YouTube host thinks that Jason Kelce needs security for encounters like the one he had Saturday, when a fan used a homophobic slur when talking about his brother, Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs star’s relationship with singer Taylor Swift — and Kelce responded by slamming the fan’s phone into the ground.
Kelce, according to Jon Marks, shouldn’t have slammed the phone due to elevated status as a celebrity.
“Kelce has to realize that his profile is bigger than it ever was as a player,” Marks, a former sports radio host in the city where Kelce spent his 13-year career as the Eagles’ center, wrote in a post on X. “He’s making big $$$ across [multiple] platforms and his brother might marry the biggest pop star ever. He can’t be spiking people’s phones. He needs security to deal with this s–t.”

With Penn State hosting Ohio State, Kelce appeared on “College GameDay” outside Beaver Stadium and attempted two kicks during the ESPN show’s field goal challenge — joking after a pair of misses that he’s not good at kicking.
A video then surfaced from the afternoon that depicted Kelce carrying a box of Garage Beer and walking down the street, and at one point, a fan wearing a sweatshirt yelled, “Kelce how does it feel that your brother is a f—–t for dating Taylor Swift?”

Kelce turned around to see who uttered the comment, before grabbing the person’s phone and smashing it into the pavement.
Another video showed Kelce later shouting back at the same fan and using the same homophobic slur, saying, “Who’s the f—–t now?”
Kelce, who co-hosts the “New Heights” podcast with Travis and inked a “Monday Night Countdown” deal with ESPN following his NFL retirement at the end of last season, hasn’t addressed the incident or his response on social media.

Some X users disagreed with Marks’ take and supported Kelce smashing the phone.
“He can and he did,” one wrote in a reply. “Agree on security though.”
“Idc you not bout to disrespect my brother to my face man,” another user added.
Travis and Swift went public with their relationship in September 2023 when she started attending Chiefs games around her “Eras Tour” shows, with Travis traveling to attend her concerts in between his NFL commitments and the couple generating plenty of attention during date nights in New York City.
With the Chiefs not playing until Monday in Week 9, when they host the Buccaneers at Arrowhead Stadium, he attended Swift’s show in Indianapolis on Saturday.
