Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman have marked their marriage with some meaningful ink.
The Eileen actress, 41, revealed on Friday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show that she and her actor and producer husband have matching tattoos signifying their same philosophies with life and love.
“We have this thing, it’s actually a tattoo, and the idea is that individually we’re whole but together we’re more,” Hathaway told host Drew Barrymore as she showed her the ink on her left wrist, which appeared to be in the shape of an “M.”
“And so I think it’s just that thing [where] I don’t expect him to complete me and he doesn’t expect me to complete him,” she continued. “I’m my own person. He’s his own person and we choose to be together because we believe we make each other better. And this union is something we both want to participate in.”

She also admitted to Barrymore — who made note of their 15-year relationship and 11-year marriage — that she felt she was fortunate to have found someone like her husband, who she could walk through life with.
“I think it’s a little bit the luck of the draw but we’re really just lucky that we keep growing together,” Hathaway said.

The actress revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers in October that she celebrated her 11-year marriage anniversary in a lowkey way thanks to the rainy New York weather. She told host Seth Meyers that the couple ended up just cuddling and watching TV.

“We just kind of like, re-pajamaed,” the actress recalled. “You know I had a moment when I was curled up on his chest and we were watching hour three of Abbott Elementary and I was like, ‘I’m so happy. This is the right guy for me.’”
Meyers teased that “if you can re-pajama with someone” it meant that “you’ve chosen the right mate,” and Hathaway admitted that the thought did come to mind.
The two married in September 2012 after dating for four years, with Hathaway recalling that she “knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life.” They tied the knot in a scenic Big Sur wedding on the California coast, and then welcomed two sons: Jonathan, 7, and Jack, 3.

Since becoming parents, the Oscar winner shared on Live with Kelly and Mark that non-anniversary dates for her and Shulman have evolved now that they have become parents.
“Sometimes date nights just feel like sitting,” she said. “When you’ve got two young kids, just sitting and, like, looking at each other, knowing you don’t have to say anything, and it’s good.”
