Taylor Swift breaks Beyoncé’s record, thanks her boyfriend

Taylor Swift received the most important award of the 2024 VMAs, Video of the Year, for her new song “Fortnight”. In total, she won 7 awards on the night, breaking the record of her senior Beyoncé.

The 2024 VMAs (MTV Video Music Awards) took place on the morning of September 12 (Vietnam time) in New York, USA. This is a major music award in the US and the world, honoring the greatest artists and musical works of the year.

Singer Taylor Swift leads the number of nominations worldwide this year with 10 categories, including the most important categories such as Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year.

As a result, the 1989-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 star won 7 awards at the award ceremony. She was nominated in important categories such as Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop Artist and Video of the Year.

With 29 VMAs awards, Taylor Swift became the artist with the highest number of VMAs awards in music history, breaking the previous record of her “senior” Beyoncé.

Taylor Swift gave an emotional speech on stage at the awards ceremony. The famous American singer did not forget to mention her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, when accepting the award.

“This music video (Fortnight) may seem sad when you watch it, but it’s actually the funniest video I’ve ever made. The only thing I remember when I finish each scene is joy. When I say ‘cut,’ I hear someone laughing and screaming. That person is my boyfriend, Travis,” Taylor shared.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially announced their relationship in September 2023. Since then, they have been seen together affectionately. The Lover singer has been seen cheering on her boyfriend many times. Travis also accompanied his girlfriend to many locations to support her Eras Tour worldwide.

2024 seems to be a sweet year for Taylor Swift as the famous singer continues to win at music awards ceremonies. Her global tour Eras Tour  continues to receive support from fans. The tour is expected to generate $2 billion in revenue when it concludes later this year.

On the Korean pop music (Kpop) side, Lisa of Blackpink received the most nominations. Specifically, Lisa won 4 different nominations for the song Rockstar including Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best Kpop Song.

In the end, the 27-year-old star was delighted to receive the Moon Person trophy for Best K-pop Song. In her speech, Lisa called the winning song – Rockstar – “a meaningful return to her career”.

Rockstar is also the first song Blackpink’s youngest member has released since she left YG Entertainment to establish her own company to manage her personal artistic activities.

Rising star Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year for her 2024 hit Espresso . “I feel so grateful, I really have the best fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you guys,” the blonde beauty said as she accepted the award.
