Singer Jennifer Lopez used Ben Affleck’s last name when she married him, but now she is asking the court to change it back to her original name.
According to Page Six , in the divorce petition filed in court on August 20, the On the Floor singer wants to change her name from Jennifer Lynn Affleck to her old name Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
After getting married in July 2022, the singer revealed that she had changed her last name and called herself “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck” in a news release posted on her personal website On the JLo .
The 55-year-old star was thrilled to take her husband’s last name, describing it as “romantic” and “traditional.” She told Vogue magazine in November 2022: “People will still call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name is ‘Mrs. Affleck’ because we’re married. We’re husband and wife and I’m proud of that.”
After two years of marriage, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on the day of their wedding anniversary. She listed the date of separation as April 26. In addition to changing her last name, Jennifer Lopez made it clear in the filing that she refused to pay 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 support to her husband. She also did not ask Ben for 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 support after the divorce.
According to TMZ , J.Lo and Ben did not sign a prenuptial agreement, so all the money each of them earned in the past two years is joint property. Up to now, Jennifer Lopez’s accumulated assets throughout her career are 400 million USD while the 52-year-old actor has less, about 150 million USD.
