Elon Musk is about to become the world’s first ‘1,000 billion USD’ billionaire?

Elon Musk is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027, according to a new report from a group that tracks billionaire wealth.

According to the Guardian newspaper on September 8, the above prediction was made by the global education company Informa Connect Academy, based on the fact that Mr. Elon Musk ‘s assets increased at an average annual rate of 110%.

He is among the richest people in the world, with assets worth 251 billion USD, according to Bloomberg.

Mr Musk co-founded six companies, including electric carmaker Tesla and space exploration technology firm SpaceX. Tesla, which has a market capitalisation of around $669 billion, is expected to reach $1 trillion next year.

Mr. Musk first appeared on Forbes ‘ billionaires list in 2012 with a net worth of $2 billion. In 2021, he became the world’s richest person, surpassing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Mr Musk lost the spot to LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault in December 2022 when Tesla shares fell, but returned to the top of the list months later.

According to CNBC, the question of who could be the world’s first trillionaire has fascinated the public since the world had its first billionaire in 1916 – American businessman and oil tycoon John D Rockefeller.

Indian businessman Gautam Adani will become the second person to reach the trillionaire mark by 2028 if his wealth growth rate of 123% is maintained, according to analysis by Informa Connect Academy.

Jensen Huang, chief executive of tech company Nvidia, and Prajogo Pangestu, an Indonesian energy tycoon, could also become trillionaires by 2028 if their wealth growth holds.

Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, the world’s largest luxury goods company, is on track to reach the $1 trillion mark by 2030, the same year as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
