LeBron James‘ decision to take his wife to the Eiffel Tower has reportedly caused security concerns at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as he continues to use the metro to move around the city, despite attacks there on July 26.
The Los Angeles Laker icon is in Europe along with Team USA‘s NBA stars as they continue their quest for another gold medal but the 39-year-old is also using his time in France to double as a chance for romance with his wife, Savannah.
Arriving at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles below the iconic towering structure, James had snuck out to watch beach volleyball with his woman only for the game to be suspended due to a storm.
However, they chose to remain fixed to their spots to watch the American pair of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss face China as they shared wine and cheered on Team USA beneath the glimmering lights of the Eiffel Tower.
Why do Team USA use trains?
Many sports teams are shuttling around the city using coaches, which blacked out windows and one source of entry, to ensure that the players are kept safe and sound in the city area of 13,000,000 people.
However, Team USA‘s basketball crew are not doing this. The star-studded outfit are in a hotel well away from the Olympic Village, meaning they have commuted around with the use of trains and the Parisian subway network.
But it’s causing concern for the security details after two attacks on public transport within France such as a bomb threat at the Franco-Swiss airport of Basel-Mulhouse, but more worryingly a trio of arson attacks on high-speed rail services.
A failure to the network system, such as the one on July 26, could leave the Lakers‘ star, his teammates and some 800,000 passengers stuck in the middle of nowhere due to disruption and destruction to optic-fiber lines.
