The singer admitted that he was not good in the early days of dating his wife. However, after experiencing many ups and downs, over time, he felt more responsible and appreciated her more.
According to People , on the On Purpose podcast on Monday, John Legend confessed that he wasn’t really serious when he started his relationship with his current wife, Chrissy Teigen, 36.
“I think I was more selfish then than I am now. I wasn’t a good partner in the early days of my relationship with my wife. Even though I loved her very much and was excited to be with her, I was still selfish. I was in my 20s and not ready for a serious relationship like I am now,” he shared.
The ” All of Me” singer said that after a while, he realized that he needed to change to fight for his relationship with the person he loved. “When you stop being selfish and take responsibility, you will find love and happiness. One of the important factors is time. You need time to grow up,” the singer said.
Through the ups and downs, John Legend has learned many new aspects of Teigen’s personality, which has helped him appreciate her even more. The male singer praised his wife’s strength when sharing pictures of their late son Jack. Their increasingly passionate love for each other also inspired the musician to produce the song I Don’t Love You Like I Used To.
“You see a lot about your partner when you grow together and when you go through adversity together. What I saw from her made me love her more and appreciate her more than ever,” he said.
The Hollywood power couple first met on the set of a music video in 2006. Their romance quickly blossomed and the pair married in 2013. The couple have two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, Luna Simone, 6, and Miles Theodore, 4. Chrissy Teigen is currently pregnant after suffering a miscarriage more than two years ago.
