Monday’s White House visit by the Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are about to cross paths with the President of the United States

WASHINGTON —Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs roster are about to cross paths with the President of the United States.

After securing the second Super Bowl Championship of the Andy Reid era, the Chiefs are set to visit President Joe Biden and the White House on Monday.

The Chiefs were unable to visit The White House following their Super Bowl in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fortunately, in 2023 the team has a trip on the books for June 5.

Despite having a history of supporting the Philadelphia Eagles, the Pennsylvania-raised Biden congratulated the Chiefs after their win in Super Bowl LVII.

“Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl win and to MVP Patrick Mahomes on leading the team to victory,” Biden tweeted. “Through injury and obstacles, you showed grit and true resilience.”

KMBC 9 will be live in Washington, D.C., during the team’s visit to the White House.

We’ll be making sure Kelce doesn’t get into too much trouble during the visit.

With the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl win happening in 1970, before invites to the White House were given out to NFL teams, this is the first time the team has ever been to the nation’s capital following a championship.

The celebration will mark one of the last special occasions in 2023 signifying the team’s Super Bowl win. The team wraps up its 2023 off-season workouts this Thursday.
