Patrick Mahomes and Xavier Worthy — the Chiefs’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft — already look to be in sync at their training camp, and it caught the eyes of many at their first full-squad practice Sunday.
Worthy secured a touchdown off a deep post-pattern route, with the dime coming from Mahomes.
The telepathic understanding between the two left the crowd in awe, according to ESPN.

Additionally, it led to a celebration from Worthy — even tight end Travis Kelce, who seemed to be pumped up after the play, broke out dancing near the middle of the field.
“He’s adjusting well,” wide receiver Mecole Hardman said of Worthy, as reported by ESPN.
“He comes with that speed, so I’m pretty sure we’re going to have him on a lot of things going deep. So, I think now just get the chemistry with him and Pat going and hopefully we can translate it on to the season.”
During the NFL scouting combine, Worthy blazed a 4.21 in the 40-yard dash, which marked the fastest time ever recorded at the event.
“It’s a lot of speed,” Hardman said.

“I think maybe we’ve got a good group of guys, [and] they bring another dynamic to the offense, and then obviously you’ve got Rashee [Rice]. That’s a bulldog, like a horse that can do all the dirty work, get the underneath routes, a lot of yards with him. Then I come in through little gadget stuff here and there and explosives, too.”
The play between Mahomes and Worthy gave the illusion that the tandem practiced extensively during the offseason.
However, Worthy was sidelined for most of that time due to a sore hamstring.
ESPN reported that Mahomes was eager for the 21-year-old to return, but the quarterback also claimed swift expectations would be placed on him.

“He’s been working hard,” head coach Andy Reid said of Worthy.
“Looks like his hamstring feels better. We’ve just got to keep him going here and keep learning. We’re just one [practice] into it and they’ve got 12 of them, so he’s got a lot more information coming at him and formations and shifts and motions and all that stuff. But he did a nice job today.”
Following their training camp, the Chiefs will flip the page to the 2024 season, where they will look to set history with a third consecutive Super Bowl title.

“We all feed off each other,” Hardman said.
“We’ve got a great room; everybody knows what’s going on. They know their roles. I think now training camp is going to really establish everybody’s roles.”
