A mother has given 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to the world’s heaviest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl, weighing the same as the average six-month-old.
The 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦, whose name has not been revealed, was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 by Caesarean section on Monday and weighed a staggering 15 pounds.
His mother, 19-year-old Nandini, was stunned by the size of her first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥.
A mother has given 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl weighing a staggering 15lbs – the heaviest female ever 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in the world
She reached double the size of the average 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦, who typically weighs 7 pounds and 5 ounces.
Her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 is thought to surpass the current record of Carisa Rusack, who was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in Massachusetts in 2014 weighing 14 pounds and 5 ounces.
Local health official Dr Venkatesh Raju said, “In my 25 years of experience, I’ve never seen a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 this big.
It’s a miracle. I think she’s not only the heaviest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in India, but also the heaviest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl ever 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in the world.
Nandini, 19, who goes only by her initial name, welcomed her first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, a daughter, by C-section on Monday evening at a government-run hospital in Hassan in southern state Karnataka
The little girl, who has yet to be named, has surprised family and doctors alike with her enormity.
Nandini, who herself weighs 14.5 stone (94 kg) and is 1.80 m tall, had a trouble-free pregnancy, but had no idea she was about to give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to a big 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦.
While her size suggested high blood sugar levels, doctors confirmed that she was not diabetic, which usually causes obesity in new𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧s.
The 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 is being kept in the neonatal intensive care unit and doctors are monitoring her progress before discharging her in a few days.
A medic hold on to the unnamed 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 after delivery on Monday
Dr Poornima Manu, the gynecologist who performed the delivery, said: “This is a great surprise for all of us. The operation lasted almost half an hour and was risk-free. She’s really tall and beautiful.
She has no health problems, such as irregular sugar levels or thyroid disorders, and breathes well. At first we were worried about her blood sugar, but that’s normal.
The mother has been to hospital regularly for check-ups and has never shown any signs of gestational diabetes or thyroid disorders.
Both mother and 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 are doing well, and we will discharge them once we are sure of the 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦’s health.
The 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 of not only the biggest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 in the state, but in the whole of India, has left senior doctors in a state of absolute amazement.
Dr Venkatesh Raju added: “I personally went to see her. She is a magnificent gift from God. I’m glad she’s doing well”.
Nandini and her husband Arun were married two years ago and were looking forward to welcoming their first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. Now that she’s here, the two parents are counting the days until they can bring her home.
In November last year, another Indian, Firdous Khatun, gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to a 2.5 kg 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 boy. H
He was the heaviest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in the country, but with Nandini’s 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦, the title now belongs to her.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the heaviest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 ever 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 weighed 23 pounds and 12 ounces in Canada in 1879.
But the 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦, whose mother Anna Bates suffered from gigantism, died 11 hours later.
The record for the world’s heaviest and healthiest 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 is held by a boy 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in Italy in 1955, who weighed 1.5 kg.
