Fans say ‘I love his character’ after seeing what Onana did before Man Utd were awarded penalty against Chelsea

FANS “love” Andre Onana after seeing what he did before Manchester United were awarded a penalty against Chelsea.

Despite Bruno Fernandes’ spot-kick miss on Wednesday night, supporters admired the goalkeeper for sharing the news of a penalty being given before the referee did.

Manchester United managed to secure a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in a heated Premier League clash against the Blues.

But they could have bagged a third goal as the Red Devils were given a penalty in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

United’s winger Antony was caught in a late challenge by Enzo Fernandez.

Referee Chris Kavanagh missed the tackle at first, but after a VAR intervention, he went over to the pitch-side monitor.

But a viral video has revealed someone called the decision before him as Onana was spotted telling Old Trafford with the thumbs up that the spot-kick would be awarded.

And fans have been left praising the Cameroonian on social media.

One fan said: “I love his character 😂.”

While a second posted: “He knows how to do another person job more than his own.”

A third wrote: “He knows ball 😂.”

However, Fernandes stood up to take the penalty but Robert Sanchez saved his tame effort.

The Portuguese midfielder has his blushes spared as goals from Scott McTominay either side of a strike from Cole Palmer earned United a big win.

Erik ten Hag’s side earned themselves an important three points to remain in the sixth spot of the league table ahead of their clash against Bournemouth on Saturday.
