Alejandro Garnacho, the Man United starboy, took the lead in a thrilling draw against Galatasaray.
Alejandro Garnacho opened the score in a 3-3 tie in Turkey with his first-ever Champions League goal.
Antony gestured to Galatasaray fans
It was his second goal in as many games, showing how his confidence is flying. He followed it up by mimicking another of Cristiano Ronaldo‘s celebrations, gesturing to the Galatasaray fans to calm down.
This further infuriated the home crowd, leading to a teammate to try to diffuse the situation.
Manchester United winger Antony actually did try to calm down the Galatasaray fans, with a gesture after Garnacho’s goal.
As his Manchester United teammates crowded around Garnacho, Antony apologized to the Turkish crowd on behalf of his overly enthusiastic young colleague, who had also infuriated Fernando Muslera, the goalkeeper for Galatasaray.
His actions were noted by Turkish outlets Fanatik and Milliyet, which reported: “Antony returned to the stands and apologised to the fans with hand gestures.”
After missing the Everton match due to an injury, Antony was making his comeback to the squad.
A Manchester United fan hailed his performance, saying it was his greatest game of the season.
The winger’s performance was praised by Craig Burley via ESPN FC, who said: “I’m going to say this, Antony played well. This is a collector’s item.”
