Raheem Sterling lauds Cole Palmer as Mudryk sends Pochettino message ahead of Tottenham clash

Chelsea have released some exclusive footage of their training preparations ahead of Monday evening’s massive Premier League showdown away at London rivals Tottenham

Chelsea are preparing for one of the toughest challenges of the Mauricio Pochettino reign so far as they make the short trip to Tottenham on Monday. Spurs can leapfrog Manchester City back to the top of the Premier League table with a win against the Blues in what is set to be a fascinating London derby.

Things, though, look very different for Chelsea. Another massively underwhelming display in front of goal against Brentford last time out sees them sit in 12th place in the table but they did manage to beat Blackburn Rovers comfortably in the week.

Chelsea, as always, have been undergoing their preparations ahead of the game on Monday. With that said, football.london takes a look at some of the highlights from Chelsea’s latest training video.

Sterling in awe of Palmer

Cole Palmer has attracted a lot of attention since arriving at Chelsea from Manchester City – and for all of the right reasons. The 21-year-old has been in superb form of late and has quickly established himself as one of the first names on Pochettino’s team sheet.

It’s not just supporters who have been left in awe of Palmer, though. It is his teammates, too, with Raheem Sterling waxing lyrical about his touch and ball control.

Sterling, Palmer and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez were casually keeping the ball up in the air inside the gym. Sterling could then be heard saying: “The way he controls it. It’s mad. With his left touch.”

Sterling not so in awe of PalmerSterling, however, was not as impressed with Palmer later on in the day when the players were out training on the grass at Cobham. In a ‘rondo’ type situation, Palmer and Sterling were competing for the ball and the former clearly pushed the latter in the back to gain an advantage at one point.

This left Sterling jokingly enraged, saying: “Don’t push me in the back, bro.” It was, though, all very light-hearted, with the majority of the team laughing away.

Chelsea trio arrive in styleMost players just walk onto the pitch at training, but for a Chelsea trio, that was not the case. Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson were filmed sat on a little buggy to save them walking as they arrived onto the pitch at Cobham in style.
