Chelsea scouts believed 22-year-old they have signed had the potential to win the Ballon d’Or

Chelsea scouts had faith in Mykhailo Mudryk when they signed him that he had the potential to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

That is according to TEAMtalk.

They claim that Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined the Blues in the January transfer window of 2023, was identified by the club as one of the world’s best young players.

In addition, the report mentions that some at Chelsea believed that the 22-year-old could even compete for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award at some stage.

It’s fair to say he’s a long way off any individual prize based off the start to his Stamford Bridge career.

We’re starting to see glimpses this season of why Mudryk was so highly rated when he first joined Chelsea. It’s still a huge way to go before he lives up to the £89million (BBC) price tag, though.

The left-winger’s return of one goal and two assists in 25 Blues appearances is pretty underwhelming. However, he’s fighting to work his way into the starting XI and is usually used from the bench.

There’s no denying he’s got all the raw ingredients of a top-class attacker when you look at his pace, directness and aggression.

Hopefully, the piece of the jigsaw are slowly starting to fall into place for him under Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently told GiveMeSport that Mudryk has been wowing his Chelsea teammates behind the scenes with his performances in training.

Can he now bring that to the pitch on a matchday on a regular basis?

We’ve seen Blues winger Raheem Sterling raise his own level since Pochettino walked through the door, which is a sign there’s freedom for the attackers at Stamford Bridge to express themselves. It’s just the kind of confidence Mudryk needs!
