Man United could welcome back several key players for their Premier League clash at Turf Moor on Saturday
Manchester United’s start to the season has been far from good but their injury list hasn’t helped matters.
The club had a total of 10 players sidelined going into Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. However, brighter news may be on the horizon.
Erik ten Hag has named four players who could return for Saturday’s trip to Burnley, where anything but a win will turn up the heat on the United boss. Some of them may even come straight into the starting XI to try and arrest the team’s poor form.
Mason Mount
The midfielder has missed the last four matches thanks to a muscular injury but returned to training alongside Varane ahead of Bayern. He will also be looked at prior to the trip to Turf Moor.
Possible return date: September 23
Sofyan Amrabat
Amrabat is yet to make his debut after signing too late to feature in the defeat to Arsenal and then withdrawing from the Morocco squad due to injury. Ten Hag confirmed he could finally make his Reds bow this weekend.
Possible return date: September 23
Harry Maguire
Maguire missed the trip to Munich after picking up an issue earlier in the week, meaning United travelled with just five defenders. The manager says he could be back for Saturday.
Possible return date: September 23
Luke Shaw
Shaw is expected to be out until maybe as late as early November. The left-back’s muscle injury meant United signed Segio Reguilon on loan on deadline day.
Possible return date: October/November
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
The defender could be out for up to eight weeks with a hamstring injury. He continued as Ten Hag’s primary right-back at the start of the season.
Possible return date: November
Kobbie Mainoo
Mainoo is back on the grass having been spotted training alone at Carrington ahead of Bayern. It doesn’t look like he will be back for Burnley but his training appearance may indicate a return is closing in.
Possible return date: September
Tyrell Malacia
The left-back has not played since June’s internationals having sustained an injury over the summer. His recovery time is unknown but it is thought to be lengthy.
Possible return date: Unknown
Amad
The attacker may have got minutes on the right wing amid the absences of Antony and Jadon Sancho but for his pre-season knee injury. The Ivorian is back in the gym but is yet to join full training again.
