Exceptional 14-year-old girl solves 17 math problems in 60 seconds, set to become a Medical doctor
Oluwatunise Idowu was a pupil of Scholars Universal Secondary School, Ogu8n State Nigeria who solved 17 maths questions in one minute at the annual Cowbellpedia Mathematics Television quiz.
Oluwatunmise set a new record as the first-ever student to achieve the feat since the inception of the competition. She saet the record by beating 5 other student who were in the Group-B stage with her.
The Cowbellpedia Mathematics Television competition is an annual program organized by Promasidor Nigeria Limited. Oluwatunmise broke the record set of 15/60 seconds set by the winner of the senior category a year before.
The phase won by Oluwatunmise involved a test of contestants’ speed and accuracy as they were required to answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds. She said she spends four hours practicing Mathematics every day with the hope of winning the grand prize.
“I want to win. My parents want me to win, just like my school also wants me victorious. Winning the crown will be the greatest gift I want from God this year,” she said.
”Apart from the one million naira prize, the bragging right in my school and among my friends will be inestimable. I can’t wait for the glorious moment. I pray for God’s favour,” she added.
