Zion National Park, located just 5 minutes away, is a must-see. It’s a name that will stick in your mind. Zion, to the Mormon pioneers, was the name of a heavenly metropolis. This is why it’s the perfect moniker for the canyon. The theme is carried on with the inclusion of angels, temples and thrones in the sandstone formations. All of these are the perfect settings for a variety of adventures and escapes to solitude and solace. If you happen to be in the park during sunrise or sunset, prepare yourself for a truly spiritual experience.
Bryce Canyon National Park. One hour from the ranch you will find hoodoos mixed with forest. Bryce has a lot of contrasts. The ponderosas pines tower over the red and orange sandstone cones, known as hoodoos. Golden-mantled ground squirrels are the most persuasive panhandlers that you will ever encounter. Just ask our front desk about local sights and trails, such as Thor’s Hammer.
Lake Powell. The lake is only 1.5 hours away from the ranch. This aquatic wonderland has more shoreline than all of the west coast of the United States. To enjoy the tall glass of water, you’ll need a boat. You can rent one or charter one from the marina. Or, get physical on a kayak or a stand-up paddling board. You will see why this place was used as the backdrop for the first Planet of the Apes. It is truly out of this planet. Check with the lake before you set sail. They can offer tips and recommendations for many services.
Grand Canyon North Rim. Grand Canyon is only 2 hours away from the ranch. You’ve probably seen photos of Grand Canyon – one of North America’s most popular tourist attractions. The photos are not even close to capturing what it’s like. This chasm in creation is a spectacle unmatched in its magnitude. Set against a barren desert landscape, the earth reveals her beauty in a way that is unmatched. The Grand Canyon is just two hours away. Ranch staff can pack you lunch to take with you.
