NFL fans have become accustomed to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes making incredible throws on a regular basis.
In Saturday’s preseason tilt against the Cardinals, Mahomes nearly completed a highlight throw as he was chased toward the sideline by Arizona defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter. Instead of simply running out of bounds, the two-time Super Bowl MVP leaped into the air and attempted to complete a pass downfield while seemingly hovering above the sideline chalk.
Throwing against his body’s momentum, Mahomes almost completed the pass to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Despite the incomplete pass, the video of the athletic play went viral.

However, the story doesn’t end there.
On Monday, Mahomes was made aware by Zach Eisen of Arrowhead Report that tight end Travis Kelce was completely uncovered down the opposite sideline.
The two-time league MVP hilariously responded to a screen grab of the play highlighting a wide-open Kelce on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Can’t believe i missed it.. 🤣🤣”, Mahomes joked while tagging Kelce.

Mahomes, who seemingly completes sublime throws on a weekly basis, couldn’t see his standout tight end on the opposite side of the field.
But his priceless response, to an incomplete preseason pass, was one of the best mic-drop moments this summer on social media.
