One of Liverpool’s players, who will be aiming to recreate history and imitate Erling Haaland, has been in excellent form in the club’s forward line during preseason.

Liverpool has completed another preseason game, adding four more goals to their total from earlier this summer. With three games played and 12 goals scored, Jürgen Klopp and his team have a chance to have a memorable season.

Based on the preseason so far, it already appears that Liverpool may have a player who may essentially be a new signing and who has undergone a total transformation since his vacation.

Last season, Darwin Nez was subjected to the majority of the jokes. Many had compared him to Erling Haaland when he first arrived at Anfield last summer, and when the Uruguayan scored for Liverpool when the Reds defeated Manchester City in the Community Shield, it seemed as though he was in for a season to remember.

That ultimately did not materialize, with Haaland seizing the spotlight and winning the top-scorer prize.

Nez, however, might steal the show this time thanks to his preseason success.

The Uruguayan has played three 45-minute halves in the Reds’ first matches thus far, contributing to five goals—four goals and one assist—in all.

Nez has currently scored the most goals for Liverpool in preseason, so his total shouldn’t be overlooked. He is excelling right now while wearing a Liverpool jersey, not just in terms of goals but also in terms of his mobility and confidence.

He has tested the goalkeeper thus far with exceptional accuracy, managing to get all six of his attempts on goal. His underlying statistics were generally great last season, but he frequently struggled to translate them into actual, measurable goals on the field.

Now that he is doing that, scoring four goals from six shots is not a bad conversion rate, despite the sample size being small.

Wherever he has been, Nez has always taken his time to truly get rolling. Notably, his first season at Benfica saw him score just 14 goals before he lit up the Portuguese league and caught Klopp’s attention while competing against Liverpool.

He might now be trying to make history once more. Like he did at Benfica in his second season, when he scored a total of 34 goals, he will be trying to match his numbers after scoring 15 goals for Liverpool last season, if not more.

Based on his preseason performances, he is more than capable of performing the same at Liverpool, where he will be competing with Haaland for the Premier League’s top goalscorer honor. just as many had predicted when he first showed up at Anfield.
