What do you think designers and architects do when they get bored? Well, among other things, they design houses that look like airplane propellers. Thai developer Duangpatra Bodiratnangkura and Los Angeles architect Zoltan Pali did just that in Bel-Air, California, by creating a home comprised of three wings resembling a three blade propeller like those seen on turboprop airplanes.

The intriguing house was designed to get the most out of the panoramic views of the location, surrounded by beautiful canyons and the downtown skyline. More work of art than home, the 18,800 foot estate is sheathed in three types of glass (clear, mirror and translucent) and boasts no less than 9 bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms.

The elegance of the home is given by the rift-sawn white-oak paneling, the white-oak floors and a trio of fireplaces. The floor to ceiling glass windows and sliding doors make the indoor and the outdoor intertwine.

The Bel Air propeller house boasts a gourmet kitchen fully equipped with Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele appliances and a marble-wrapped dining room that overlooks the city. There’s as well an outdoor entertainment area which offers stunning city views from every side and includes a summer kitchen complete with two firepits and an alfresco dining table, a LED lit swimming pool and the customary spa.

The interior custom cedar sauna, fully equipped gym, luxury home theater and the 1000 bottle wine room add in more value to the luxury amenities the house is equipped with.
