Mahomes made sure to thank Chiefs HC Andy Reid for allowing him to participate

ansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, and his company 2PM Productions, are co-producing Netflix docu-series Quarterback along with Peyton Manning‘s Omaha Productions and NFL Films.

Mahomes, 27, stated during the team’s mandatory minicamp Thursday that he wanted to have some sort of editing control due to being wild on the field.

“I wanted to for sure be able to have some editing rights,” Mahomes said. “Because I’ve realized that I’m kind of wild on the field – like I don’t even remember the things that I say. But I’m a competitor; that’s just who I am. And so it was cool to be able to go through that process.”

The docu-series follows Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings‘ Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota of the Atlanta Falcons, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid nearly spoiled the production.

Reid, 65, had to be talked into allowing Mahomes to participate in the show. He reportedly only said yes because the QB all but begged him for the opportunity.

Mahomes made sure to thank Reid for allowing him to participate in the creation of the new Netflix show, which is set to drop July 12.

He admitted that there’s plenty of stuff he had to edit out “wild stuff” because of profanity. If the show gets picked up for a second season, not every QB will have editing rights.

“I’ve watched pretty much all of it,” Mahomes revealed. “It’s gonna be cool for everybody to see – and there’s a lot more of the, ‘I’m like that’ stuff that I left in there. I couldn’t leave it all in there because I say a lot of wild stuff out there.

“They’re gonna see how different I am here [in press conferences] than I am on the field. I think that’s the biggest thing that you’re gonna see. I tried to cut out as much profanity as I could. But it’s hard; you would get nothing in the whole game.”
