Exceptional Nigerian man graduates as Lawyer with double first class grade, wins 18 awards & ₦5million cash prize

An exceptional Nigerian man named Oluwabusayo Ifonlaja has achieved an extraordinary academic feat, graduating with double first-class honors in Law and earning multiple awards for his outstanding performance.

In 2023, Oluwabusayo’s path to this remarkable achievement began at Nile University, Abuja, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree with a perfect 5.00/5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA), the highest in the university.’

His outstanding score earned him the overall best graduating student for both his faculty and the entire Class of 2023.

Following his graduation, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, a rigorous one-year training program required to become a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Once again, he excelled, graduating with first-class honors and emerging as the overall best graduating student of the Nigerian Law School Class of 2024 out of over 7,000 candidates nationwide.

Additionally, Oluwabusayo received 18 prestigious awards, celebrating his academic distinction and leadership. His achievements also caught national attention, including that of Popular Nigerian human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju.

Barrister Deji awarded him a ₦5 million cash prize, praising him as a model of diligence, discipline, and determination, a true inspiration for aspiring lawyers across Nigeria and Africa.

Reflecting on his journey, Oluwabusayo described his time at both Nile University and the Nigerian Law School as challenging yet deeply rewarding.

He noted that his success went beyond academics; he participated in leadership roles,  won legal competitions, and internships with prestigious law firms, which helped shape him into a well-rounded lawyer.

Oluwabusayo recalled how his academic journey has been a story of relentless effort, grace, and divine help, emphasizing that scholarships and the support of his family made his dreams possible.

From his early days in nursery school to primary, secondary, university, and now law school, he has consistently emerged at the very top of every class, describing himself as a blessed human.

Oluwabusayo expressed his gratitude to God, his family, mentors, lecturers, friends, and colleagues, all of whom contributed to his success. He encouraged anyone with a dream to believe in the power of hard work and God’s grace.

”To anyone reading this, with the required effort and God’s grace, the dream will soon take shape,” he said.
