Throughout its run, the show garnered immense acclaim and created a deep connection with audiences. However, over the years, the entertainment industry has mourned the loss of many talented actors who brought these unforgettable characters to life. Among those remembered is Andy Romano, who played Deputy Chief Warren Brisco. Born on April 16, 1936, he enjoyed a prolific career in film and television before passing away at 86 in 2022. Joe Santos, best known for his role as Lieutenant Dennis Becker in “The Rockford Files,” portrayed Larza in “Hill Street Blues” and died in 2016.

Another notable figure is Kiel Martin, who played Detective JD Laru, a character grappling with personal demons. He passed away at the age of 46 in 1990. Charles Levan, portraying Eddie Greg, added moral complexity to the series; his remains were found in 2019 after he went missing.

The beloved Sergeant Phil Esterhouse, played by the late Conrad, became an iconic figure, known for his wisdom and compassion. He died in 1983. Judge Lee Oberman, portrayed by Larry D. Mann, and Fay Furillo, played by Barbara Boston, who was nominated for five Emmy Awards, are also among those we remember fondly.

The diverse ensemble cast included characters like Lieutenant Howard Hunter and Detective Neil Washington, played by James Siking and Torian Black, respectively, both of whom also passed away in recent years.
