Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump are taking things slow.

A source close to the duo tells PEOPLE that the relationship between Trump, 47, and Woods, 49, is “very casual” at this point.

Woods and Trump have a connection through their golf-star kids, the insider said, referencing his son Charlie, 16, and her daughter Kai, 17. “Their kids are going places in golf and both very disciplined about the sport. They have that in common,” says the insider.

A second source close to Trump tells PEOPLE that for the mother of two — who shares Kai and Donald III, 16, with her ex-husband Donald Trump Jr. — her relationship with someone of Tiger’s status is unsurprising.

“Vanessa has always gone for guys who are either well known or have something big going for them,” the source tells PEOPLE.

“She is comfortable with that, but she’s not a woman who wants to be in the limelight,” the source continues. “She is not a shrinking violet but is discreet and smart and a good mother. That has come first in her life.”

According to a third source, Trump — “like Tiger” — is “interested in charity work” and keeping her focus on her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren amid the new romance.

PEOPLE attempted to reach Trump and a rep for Woods for comment.

PEOPLE confirmed on March 13 that Woods and Trump had been quietly dating for several months. The Daily Mail  was first to report the news.

Vanessa was married to Donald Jr. for 12 years before she filed for divorce in 2018. Her ex-husband is “cool with” her new relationship with Woods, a source told PEOPLE.

Woods is a father to Charlie with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, along with their daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, 17. The former couple called it quits in 2010.

In February, Woods accompanied Kai and Vanessa to the Genesis Invitational in San Diego, Calif.Days after they were seen in California, the five-time Masters champion was honored at the White House by Vanessa’s former father-in-law President Donald Trump during a reception recognizing Black History Month.

On March 19, Kai Trump and Tiger’s son Charlie Woods will both compete in the Junior Invitational in South Carolina. The tournament will take place at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville.
