Ayo Edebiri Got ‘Death Threats’ After Elon Musk Shared Fake Report About Her Replacing Johnny Depp in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’: He’s an ‘Idiot’ and a ‘Fascist’

“Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,” Edebiri wrote on her Instagram story while sharing Musk’s original post. “LMAO. So not only is he double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”

In a previous Instagram story post, Edebiri shouted out Bill Burr for his roasting of Musk during a recent interview on NPR’s “Fresh Air.” The comedian said that Musk was “evidently a Nazi,” referring to the controversial hand gestures Musk made at an inauguration event for Donald Trump. Burr added: “I just refuse to believe it was an accidental two-time Sieg Heil. And he does it at a presidential inauguration!”

Burr went on to call Musk an “idiot” with “dyed hair plugs and a laminated face” and someone “who makes a bad car and has an obsolete social media platform.” The comedian asked liberals: “Why are we so afraid of this guy who can’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag?”

Edebiri gave Burr the bullseye emoji in reaction to his comments before calling out Musk herself for the racist hate he threw her way by posting a fake report about her alleged “Pirates” casting. Edebiri is not starring in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. The future of the Disney franchise remains a question mark, although producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed last year that a reboot from “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” writer Jeff Nathanson was being developed.

Chelsea Handler: ‘Did Anyone Vote for Elon Musk to Be President? Can’t Republicans and Democrats’ Agree We Don’t Want That?

“He’s cracked it,” Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly of Nathanson’s script for the “Pirates” reboot. “He’s got an amazing third act. We just gotta clean up the first and second and then we’ll get there. But he wrote a great, great third act.”

A reboot would seemingly rule out an appearance by Johnny Depp, whose leading role as Jack Sparrow powered the first five “Pirates” movies to $4.5 billion at the global box office. Depp’s future as Jack Sparrow has remained a question mark as he remains largely absent from Hollywood following legal troubles and his 2022 libel trial against Amber Heard. However, Bruckheimer personally wants him back.
