LOS ANGELES – Shohei Ohtani has pledged to donate $500,000 in the wake of the recent fires across Los Angeles County.
The Los Angeles Dodgers star took to social media to announce he will make the donation in hopes of helping the firefighters battling in the frontlines.
“Our hearts go out to all the firefighters who continue to fight for us during the fires in LA,” his post read, in-part, in English translation.
Ohtani also mentioned the Dodgers and Fanatics teaming up to sell “LA Strong” t-shirts with parts of the proceeds going towards fire relief.
The Dodgers were among the LA-based sports teams pledging to donate a combined $8 million for relief efforts. The group effort included help from Angel City FC, the Angels, Chargers, Clippers, Ducks, Galaxy, Kings, LAFC, Lakers, Rams and Sparks.
