Tiger Woods Hits New Bottom for 2024 as Disappointing Hiatus Continues to Undermine His Legacy

“I love to compete. I love the camaraderie, and being around the guys,” said the 48-year-old Tiger Woods, when asked about his retirement plans.

Tiger Woods was once among the greatest golfers and is still known for holding some of the greatest records in the sport’s history. Not only that, he is even considered one of the most famous golfers in the history of the sport. However, with great power comes great responsibilities. Mr. T has suffered through several surgeries, starting from his knee surgery in 1994 to the arthroscopic surgery in 2019.

Nonetheless, he has always managed to make a comeback. But, this was until 2021, when Woods decided to have his fifth microdiscectomy surgery in January. This helped to remove his bulging disc. Just a month after his successful surgery, he met with a car crash that completely changed his professional golfing career. The 82X PGA Tour winner could not go back to his form since then.

In the 2024 season, Tiger Woods appeared only in five events, which included the four majors and one of the signature events. He had his worst OWGR finish after his withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational after the opening round. The 15X Major winner dropped down to 959 on the list. After the Masters, he once again staggered up to 175 places and finished at the 784th position. But looks like he has met yet another low this season.

Woods last appeared at the Open Championship in July. It was the third consecutive cut he had missed in the season. Despite appearing in more events than last year, he dropped down to the 999th position. Nosferatu took to their official X account a few hours ago and shared statistics on the former World No. 1. In the caption, they wrote, “In case you missed it, @TigerWoods is now #999 in the world… #OWGR”.

The 2024 season has not been the best for Tiger Woods. Apart from not being able to reach anywhere above the bottom of the field in the leaderboard, he also made his career-worst. Adding to the miseries was the fact, that the tournament was his best finish this year.

Tiger Woods ended the 2024 Masters with the worst career score

Tiger Woods managed to make the record of not missing the cut at the Augusta National for 24 years straight. The final day of the Major event also marked the 100th round in his career at the Masters. Despite all these records, the 48-year-old finished at the bottom of the leaderboard (60) with a rather disappointing score of 16-over. Woods was left two strokes behind Vijay Singh.

He shot a 5-over 77 in the Sunday round, which made things worse after the 82 on Saturday. This was the worst score that he has bagged in almost three decades of his Masters career, which includes the two of them he played as an amateur in 1995 and 1996.
