But Patrick, 28, will know that there is plenty of hard work ahead as the Chiefs aim for a historic three-peat.
One date that will already be circled on his calendar is a clash with the division rival Las Vegas Raiders on October 27.
On Thursday, theĀ Raiders went viralĀ afterĀ players were seen mocking MahomesĀ at training camp.
Over the years, it has been frequently suggested thatĀ the passerĀ sounds like Kermit The Frog.
TheĀ RaidersĀ opted to take this joke up a notch when somebody brought with them a Kermit puppet to camp.
The puppet had been customized to include Mahomes’ jersey and hair similar to his.
The clip of Raiders players laughing while defensive back Trey Taylor put the puppet on his hand quickly made the rounds onĀ X.
Now, the three-timeĀ Super Bowl-winning signal-caller has responded in what could prove to be a chilling warning to his AFC West rivals.
“It’s still early in the year. Stuff like that happens,” Mahomes told reporters.
“It’ll get handled when it gets handled.”
Along with Mahomes, head coach Andy Reid also chimed in on the clip.
Asked if it was “a smart idea to fire up Patrick Mahomes,” Reid toldĀ CBS, “I’d probably say, not.
“We don’t spend a lot of time here with puppets. We try to do our work and try to get better. That’s the important thing.”
