While competing in EURO 2024, Mbappe is still suing PSG Club: Demanding 100 million euros

According to L’Équipe newspaper, the lawyers of striker Kylian Mbappe, captain of the French team, have officially sued PSG club for 100 million euros in salary and bonuses owed since April until now.

Mbappe has joined Real Madrid Club, but with official effect not until June 30. Currently, this 25-year-old star is with the French team attending EURO 2024 in Germany. After the tournament, it is expected that on July 16, he will be presented at the Bernabeu Stadium by his new club.

However, at the present time, all ties between Mbappe and PSG Club have not completely ended. The Paris team was angry with the French team star leaving on a free transfer, so they withheld all of their salary and bonuses since April with a total value of up to 100 million euros, according to L’Équipe newspaper (France).

“This amount includes PSG having to pay Mbappe’s salary until June 30 when the contract officially expires. Previously, Mbappe had confirmed that he would give up a loyalty fee of about 80 million euros as committed to PSG. However, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have paid this amount of money to persuade Mbappe to stay, but failed.

Therefore, the Paris team now wants to retain all of Mbappe’s salary and bonuses to deduct from the loyalty fee. Furthermore, the confirmation that Mbappe gave up his loyalty amount of 80 million euros is only a verbal agreement, without any commitment. PSG wants a document to confirm the agreement. However, after many negotiations, the parties have still not been able to come to an agreement. Mbappe’s side has filed a lawsuit and everything will be decided in court,” L’Équipe newspaper said.

“In the lawsuit, Mbappe’s side also complained to the French Professional Football League (LFP). LFP stipulates that all clubs in the French professional league system must pay salaries to players before the last day of the month,” L’Équipe newspaper expressed.

Mbappe played in the match where the French team won 1-0 against the Austrian team on June 18

“Currently, the matter has not yet reached the point of being legally resolved and the two sides will continue to exchange opinions to find a solution. In the immediate future, Mbappe’s side has filed a lawsuit to protect its rights. Certainly , PSG Club will take legal action to defend its argument. Negotiations will continue in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Mbappe will continue to focus on the French team at EURO 2024 Like waiting for the Real Madrid Club debut date on July 16”, Marca newspaper (Spain) assessed the situation.

Mbappe and the French team had their opening match in Group D of EURO 2024, winning against the Austrian team with a score of 1-0. In this match, Mbappe suffered a nose injury and had to retire in the 0-0 draw with the Dutch team on June 22. It is expected that Mbappe will return to play in the final group stage match against the Polish team at 11 p.m. on June 25.
