“Who is buying that”: At Yankee Stadium during the Dodgers series, fans make fun of the choice to sell hats with images of Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani

Two of the game’s biggest stars, Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, will be squaring off against each other this weekend. The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers start the first of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

Ahead of the matchup, fans noticed some new gear in the pro shop. The Ohtani and Judge-branded hats the club put on display for sale has left many scratching their heads.

It does not stop at just the hats; the club has also pulled some Ohtani jerseys to sell in the pro shop. This has to be one of the few instances that the pro shop is displaying the jersey of a player on an opposing team.

It will take a special type of fan to buy the hats on display. Not many of the Bronx faithful would proudly wear that hat in public, given their strong bond with their club.

“Who is buying that hat” – one fan posted.

“Do people actually buy this stuff” – another fan posted.

“Those hats are atrocious” – posted another.

Fans do not like the design of the hats as they do not have much to offer. Some are wondering if anybody even buys stuff like this in the first place.

“Get them outta here” – said another fan.

“No shame” – said another.

“Those hats are hideous” – said another.

Yankees fans do not want to see opposing player’s merch sold at their stadium. However, with the popularity of Shohei Ohtani, you cannot blame the club.

Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani square off the first of a three-game series this weekend. It should be exciting as both teams have played well, holding the lead in their respective divisions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hold a 39-25 record while the Bronx Bombers are 45-19. Game 1 will feature a pitching duel between Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Cody Poteet.

Unfortunately for the Yanks, Juan Soto might be missing in action on Friday. The slugger exited Thursday’s matchup against the Minnesota Twins with left forearm inflammation. He is considered day-to-day.

Even without Soto, this matchup should prove to be an exciting one. Both teams feature one of the best players in the game and have been playing out of their minds.
