Tiger Woods could make Hollywood cameo as ‘Happy Gilmore’ role floated

Adam Sandler revealed that he would love to see 15-time major winner Tiger Woods assume an acting role in a potential sequel to the beloved golf movie ‘Happy Gilmore’

A sequel to golf movie ‘Happy Gilmore’ is reportedly in the works – and Adam Sandler is hoping to land one of the greatest players to ever play the sport for a pivotal role.

During a recent appearance on the Dan Patrick Show , Sandler discussed the possibility of having Tiger Woods make a cameo in the film. “I would love it. We’ll see,” he said of a potential appearance from the 15-time major winner. “I’m gonna write all my dreams and then you never know what’s going to happen. But we’re going to try.”

Woods isn’t the only professional golfer who Sandler has a role laid out for. The actor revealed that John Daly could also be featured in the motion picture, adding that the 58-year-old’s unique antics on the golf course were used as inspiration in the original.

Actor Tim Herlihy, who’s worked on several projects with Sandler, attended last week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, where he spoke to Daly about the film. When asked if he believed the two-time major winner could star in ‘Happy Gilmore II’, Sandler responded: “I would like to think so. I love him. I’ve always loved him.”

Sandler has shared the big screen with sports superstars in the past. Back in 2022, the 57-year-old acted alongside Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards in Netflix’s movie ‘Hustle’.

“Every pro guy, when we were shooting the movie, loved him,” Sandler said of Edwards, who is preparing for the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. “He’s just got something carefree and cool about him, and he wants to win… I love him.”

News of a ‘Happy Gilmore’ reboot was immediately met with an immense wave of hype. Unfortunately for over-eager fans, Sandler conceded that there is still much work to be done on the plot and script.

Rumours of a possible second movie in the series first started circulating in March, when Christopher McDonald – who starred as the movie’s antagonist opposite Sandler’s main character – claimed he’d seen the initial script for the second part.
