The “absence” of President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a detail mentioned in Kylian Mbappe ‘s farewell statement to PSG .
Kylian Mbappe left Paris St Germain with gratitude after 7 seasons. But strangely, club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was the only person the French striker did not thank in his farewell announcement on social networks.
The 2018 World Cup champion mentioned all the coaches and Sports Directors at PSG that he has worked with. Starting with Unai Emery and ending with another Spanish “captain” Luis Enrique. But the most important name – Al-Khelaifi – did not appear in Mbappe’s thank you note.
“I want to thank my teammates, all the players I have worked with, all the coaches I have worked with at PSG: Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Christophe Galtier and Luis Enrique. And the two Directors PSG sports director: Leonardo and Luis Campos, who always favor me,” the 25-year-old striker said in his farewell message.
In a speech lasting nearly 4 minutes, Mbappe did not mention Al-Khelaifi’s name once. According to French media, Mbappe is not satisfied with the President of PSG after what he has recently experienced.
The relationship between the two sides began to crack last July, when Mbappe announced he would not renew his contract. That was the source of future explosions.
The 25-year-old player accused PSG of revealing his future decision to the press. After that, the Parc des Princes team responded by selling Mbappe and removing him from daily activities with his teammates. Mbappe certainly did not forget that and explained why the relationship with Al-Khelaifi is difficult to mend.
Last August, the two sides found common ground to normalize the relationship. Obviously, the overall result of the PSG team is still the top goal. Mbappe also decided not to take the 80 million Euro bonus in his contract at the end of this season. This is considered a move to help PSG have budget to find a replacement.
The French striker still showed impressive form throughout the season, scoring 43 goals in 46 matches in all competitions. But in recent months, Mbappe has had to sit on the bench more than usual.
Perhaps, Mbappe feels that behind this decision is not Luis Enrique but the board of directors. PSG is said to be “hurt” when Mbappe intends to join the Bernabeu.
The Ligue 1 champion is aware that Mbappe’s failure to renew his contract is partly due to interest from Los Blancos. Although he still plays for the French capital team throughout this season, Mbappe’s future is at the Bernabeu.
A part of fans thought Mbappe’s move was ungrateful. It was Al-Khelaifi who gave Mbappe special benefits at PSG and helped his career reach new heights after leaving AS Monaco.
